Richard Kaloust Steps to Success in Life

1. Set Goals - Know what it is that you want in all areas of your life.  What do you want as far as a career, family, friendships, home, hobbies, ect.  Because if you just live day to day letting life decide for you what your life will be. Then before you know it you will find yourself at the end of your life looking back wishing you would have done this or that but it will be too late. You can start by making a list of what you want in the different areas of your life or how you want them to be different from what it is now.

2. Plan - now take your goals and create a plan of how to obtain your goal.

3. Take action -  the important thing is to take action towards achieving your goals. Try to work on this everyday if possible. Because if you let too much time pass without working towards it. Then you will lose both focus and interest.

4. Overcoming adversity - there will be obstacles that will pop up along the way to achieving what you want in life. Some of them will be easy to overcome but then some will be very difficult and challenging for you. The important thing is to work through them.

Self Improvement Resources - Know For Yourself

By Niamh Arthur

Review of the new DVD: Know for Yourself, that is taking the self improvement industry by storm.

After the widespread success of the DVD The Secret there emerged a whole new genre of personal success films. Although Know for Yourself does belong in that genre it brings self improvement ideas to the next level. It is more focused on having personal responsibility for your results and actually really going for whatever you have always wanted to have.

The one drawback I have continuously seen with most Law of Attraction resources is they demonstrate to people why, but fail to demonstrate to people how to change their thinking. It gives the impression that all viewers have to do is think as positively as they can about their wants. The viewer feels motivated and optimistic about their lives while they watch the film. But this feeling is often fleeting and only lasts until some situation comes up that puts the person right back to their old negative patterns of thought. These principals only work if used consistently, if you can make a real shift in your habitual thinking.

I always was of the opinion that self improvement movies would never do more than motivate and inspire, that courses and books are the more powerful self improvement resources. However Know for Yourself took a very different direction from anything else I’ve seen.

The movie combines individual success stories from individuals the world over, and a roundtable discussion amongst a group of self made millionaires. The composition works successfully as people respond to stories, they get motivated by stories and stories help them think about what’s possible. Nevertheless their motivation can fade. I feel the power of the DVD is in the mastermind group conversation. These powerful leaders and entrepreneurs set a high standard for personal responsibility and laid out what it takes to create lasting change. They discussed a clear path for success and what changes someone needs to make to attain their dream, but they also demonstrate that to really be successful you must to use your influence in the world for good. You have to be the one to hold yourself to a very high standard.

I didn’t follow the meaning of the film’s title at the beginning, but it became clear that it reflected the teachings very well. Know for Yourself is really about moving away from the herd, making up your own mind and not just following the beliefs and ideas of the masses.

The one thing I didn’t like was that the format of the roundtable discussion made some of the better points get lost in the mix. I loved the chance to eavesdrop on a millionaire mastermind, but I found myself wishing they were talking directly to the screen so I could make sure I didn’t miss a word. I had to watch the film a couple times to make sure I got all the really powerful points.
